If you ever wanted to make yourself feel old, let us point out that Tim Burton’s BEETLEJUICE will be 27 years old next year. Whilst you take that in, Burton has revealed that a sequel to his 1988 classic is now apparently closer than ever.

Speaking to ShockTillYouDrop, the director said, “It’s a character that I love, and I miss actually working with Michael [Keaton]. There’s only one Betelgeuse. We’re working on a script and I think it’s probably closer than ever and I’d love to work with him again.”

Now Michael Keaton is a long-standing STARBURST favourite, plus Burton’s had some true moments of genius mixed in with a lot of so-so, meaning the thought of the two reteaming for a BEETLEJUICE sequel certainly has our attention. It’s something that’s been talked about for a long while now, so we’ll have to wait and see if “closer than ever” actually turns into anything concrete.
