You can’t have a fantasy realm without a war, battle or at least a tea party skirmish and in 2016 the world awaits what battles Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) has in store in Warcraft. We trust most of you either know or have heard of Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft game series, on which the film is based and if not just walk past your local games/comics store and you’ll soon grasp the enormity of the fanbase. The series is one built on fantastical realms, diverse characters and scope, so that leaves the talented director a lot to play with in his upcoming film adaptation. However the fun starts here for fans, as early footage and teaser posters (promoting the film’s factions) were released today at the WoW Convention at BlizzCon.

You can see these mighty posters below and from the looks of the artillery, we are not messing about. The film is set to be an origin story regarding how Azeroth descended into war between the human Alliance and the Orc Horde and thes posters set this faction-centred plot up from the get go. The film will star Vikings’ Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), Toby Kebbel (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Rob Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand), Daniel Wu (Europa Report) and Clancy Brown (Highlander). Also, just as a teaser for fans, some very early footage was released, as was the below motion logo- admittedly its only 11 seconds of fiery words but the anticipation rises.

Warcraft is set to raise its axe in cinemas on the 11th of March 2016.
