The gaming industry, being relatively young, is still finding its footing. Over the last few years more emphasis has been placed on storyline and exploring character in mainstream, big budget games, creating a paradigm for future releases to follow. Who really imagined a game as deep and interesting as Arkham Asylum for Batman?

Star Wars has fared better in the gaming industry, spawning classics like the expansive Knights of the Old Republic series, but with the dissolution of LucasArts last year, fans were justified in thinking they wouldn’t be getting a decent title for the foreseeable future. That looks set to change.

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson has stated in a recent interview that the publisher is taking a leaf out of Warner Bros. book with their acclaimed Arkham series. Speaking to Fortune, Wilson has stated: "What Warner Bros. did with Batman was take the core roots of that IP and manifest that inside the walls of Gotham City and delivered an interactive experience that had real ties to what you would see in the films and what you had read in the comics, while having its own life because it could provide such deep and more immersive storylines. When we look at the Star Wars properties that's how we're looking at it."

The game will function outside any storylines from the films or series, instead using the vast galaxy of Star Wars to draw from and serve up an explorative, progressive and, above all, satisfying experience.
