Gaming News

2K, 2K China and Firaxis Games have announced the release of the iOS version of Xcom: Enemy Unknown the smash hit turn based strategy game.

They've promised to deliver the full game experience of the console and PC versions (not just some hashed up mess which shares a title but little else) whilst optimising it for iOS touch screen devices. It also includes a rather neat feature that allows gamers to save games across their iOS devices using iCloud.

Jake Solomon, lead designer on XCOM:EU at Firaxis was clearly pleased with the results “Turn-based strategy games are a natural fit for a touch interface, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown takes full advantage of this on iOS devices... We’re thrilled that gamers have yet another platform to play the game on, especially one that allows XCOM: Enemy Unknown to be played anywhere, anytime.”

If that's not convinced you (and at £13.99 those used to paying 69p for the likes of Angry Birds might need convincing) check out the launch trailer...

You must have the Adobe Flash Player installed to view this player.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown for iOS is available now for £13.99 from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at Supported iOS devices for XCOM: Enemy Unknown include the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th Generation.
