It's here! (Well nearly) Capcom have today released a downloadable demo available to PS3 and Xbox 360 owners via the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE.

There is content from the three main campaigns, which you can enjoy solo or teamed up in the on-line co-op mode.

In campaign 1 you can play as either fan favourite Leon S. Kennedy or newbie, US Secret Service Agent Helen Harper, as you explore the grounds of Ivy University (one can only assume it's a Harvard type Ivy League type of University - Unobtanium anyone?)

U.S.S.S. Agent Helena Harper

Campaign 2 moves to the streets of Lanshiang where you can play as spawn of Wesker, Jake Muller or Raccoon City survivor Sherry Birkin (that name sounds worryingly familiar...). Here you'll face-off against the J'avo using (according to the press release) "Jake’s special hand-to-hand combat moves and Sherry’s stun baton". Sounds like they may be a little under prepared to me...

Finally Campaign 3 gives you control of original zombie-stomper Chris Redfield or fellow B.S.A.A member Piers Nivans. Set in the war torn streets of Edonia, you face the J'avo once again before encountering the might of a "three-story high B.O.W. Ogroman". Sounds like one hell of a party...

OGROMAN - Gonna need a bigger gun...

So there you have it. On the face of it it looks like Capcom have played a blinder. Clearly they're confident in this latest instalment, here's hoping they have reason to be...

Resident Evil 6 is released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 2nd. A PC version will follow shortly afterwards.
