Second Life for SEAMAN?

Despite its short life span, Sega’s Dreamcast was light years ahead of its time, and if you grew up in the ‘90s chances are you’ve got fond memories of the console. But you might not have heard of the oddball title SEAMAN.

Functioning like a pet simulator, the game challenged players to look after a barmy aquatic creature as it evolved and developed a human face, all the while voiced by Leonard Nimoy. No, we’re not making this up.

If you missed this admittedly bonkers game first time around, there’s a slim chance you’ll get a look in soon. Indie publisher Devolver Digital (behind SERIOUS SAM and THE TALOS PRINCIPLE) are looking to revive the title. Fork Parker, Devolver’s CEO, penned a loving tweet to Sega’s account begging, “Please let us nerds at Devolver Digital have the license to create a new SEAMAN. Pretty please.”

Parker was even so bold as to tweet to SEAMAN creator Yoot Saito, asking, “If you still own the rights to SEAMAN then let's make a new one.” Saito responded with, “Hi. For smartphone?” with Parker replying, ”Maybe PC and smartphone?”

This back and forth is hardly indicative of a new SEAMAN game, but might just be the first steps into reviving one of the weirdest games you’ve never played.
