WATTO'S EMPORIUM Weekly Top 3

PrintE-mail Written by Jack Bottomley

Welcome once again to the movie marketplace that is Watto’s Emporium, which rounds up some of the best merch that we found across the online galaxy this week. And the emporium is enjoying a well travelled selection of items this week, items that come from here on earth, over in Neverland and even from Mars. So without any further ado, join us as we take a look at the 3 items that are joining the swelling ranks of movie memorabilia this week…

3. Tinker Bell Light-Up Key Chain (disneystore.co.uk, £5.95)

Director Joe Wright’s “re-interpretation” (or prequel, to be clearer) of J.M. Barrie’s iconic creation Peter Pan, is called Pan but should have been called panned because it did not go down too great last Autumn. Still the film has its share of supporters and if you happen to be one of theme, the film hits shelves this Monday. So with this in mind, we had a look for some gear inspired by any movie incarnations of the Peter Pan story and this brill key ring from disneystore.co.uk was a bright standout. Inspired (obviously) by the much-loved animated 1953 Disney film Peter Pan, this key ring sees little Tinker Bell proudly standing in her lantern case and better yet it lights up- which should be useful if your shadow ever goes missing!

2. Watney’s Martian Potatoes T-Shirt (grindstore.com, £9.99)

As we edge further into the thick of awards season, you have no doubt heard how well Ridley Scott’s “comeback movie” The Martian has been doing with nominations and wins. The film has been widely praised by audiences and critics alike (with some saying it was even superior to Andy Weir’s source novel) but the biggest praise has drifted towards the star of the show Matt Damon. Damon plays stranded astronaut Mark Watney and as you would think, getting stranded on Mars, left a few obstacles to overcome. Well as this gloriously geeky shirt from grindstore.com suggests, Mark did a spud job! Taking a light-hearted look at the survival techniques of Damon’s character, this shirt is a must for fans of Scott’s Sci-Fi Survival Drama.

1. Deadpool Hat- Merc with a Mouth (beltsbucklestees.com, £17)

After years of waiting and endless campaigning by actor Ryan Reynolds (after the character’s disastrously neutered appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine left a sour taste) this coming Wednesday finally sees Deadpool arrive in cinemas. Whether cracking jokes in front of mutated bad ‘uns, provocatively posing, or encouraging audiences to touch themselves in aid of cancer awareness, it should come as no surprise that the film was confirmed as a 15 certificate this week. So to this end, its seems very appropriate that beltsbucklestees.com have this nifty cap decorated by the comic characters instantly recognisable costume and showing off his well earned moniker of “Merc with a Mouth”…and it certainly looks like that mouth has followed him to the big screen, lets hope the results are as good as we are anticipating.
