WATTO'S EMPORIUM Weekly Top 3

PrintE-mail Written by Jack Bottomley

Welcome once again to the movie marketplace that is Watto’s Emporium, which rounds up some of the best merch that we found across the online galaxy this week. Just like every other week, this week’s top 3 includes reptilian home ware, bobbly ghosts and survival aiding shirts. So without any further ado, let us take a stroll through the varied, jam-packed aisles of the emporium this week…

3. The Walking Dead Keep Calm T-Shirt (beltsbucklestees.com, £15)

As The Walking Dead has lumbered back on our TV screens for its 6th season (see our far quicker paced review of Episode #1 here), what better way to start off this week’s emporium than with a dose of the undead? Over the course of the show we have learnt a great many lessons and if you are all as fed up of those boring old “keep calm and carry on” shirts as we are, then here is that shirt with a cool upgrade, courtesy of beltsbucklestees.com. The shirt basically checks off some of the life lessons the show has taught us across its 5 seasons, although it is missing the suggestion ‘keep calm and just hide behind Daryl or Michonne’…that’s what we’d do.

2. Crimson Peak Vinyl Pop Figures (forbiddenplanet.co.uk, £9.99)

Director Guillermo del Toro is back with his gothic romantic chiller Crimson Peak, which is in cinemas now (see whether the film is gorgeous or ghastly in our review right here) but have you all ever wondered why (Hellboy and Pacific Rim aside) there aren’t more pieces of merchandise based on del Toro’s beautiful body of work? Well the good ol’ large domed Vinyl Pop Figures have received a Guillermo make over with these rather precious Crimson Peak figures, available from forbiddenplanet.co.uk. Based on the look of stars Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston…although our personal favourite is the ghost figure…these figures are the perfect balance of sweet and sinister.

1. Indominus Rex Throw Pillows (redbubble.com, £12)

Already the time has come for Colin Trevorrow’s record shattering Jurassic World to rumble its way into DVD Stores this Monday (check out our roar some review here). So it seems appropriate to sift through all the official Lego sets and dinosaur plush toys to see what we could find worth snapping up. However our choice is found over at redbubble.com and is the perfect accompaniment to the prehistoric reptile lover’s home. Everybody loves a good cosy cushion, so how can that be improved? Why by slapping a hand drawn style design of Jurassic World’s bio-engineered scaly baddie the Indominus Rex. These cushions are great to look at and perfect for franchise fans looking to take a bit of the onscreen theme park home with them.
