Sherlock Holmes fans should pencil a trip to the Museum of London into their diaries. Running from the 17th of October 2014 until the 12th of April 2015 the museum will be hosting an exhibition that explores the legend of Sherlock Holmes from many angles.

Surprisingly this is the first major Sherlock Holmes exhibition in London since 1951 and will discuss how the story of Sherlock Holmes has evolved from literature into stage and screen; it will also examine the enduring appeal of the great detective. There is also a chance to understand the historic context of Conan Doyle’s creation with the use of early film and photographs recreating the atmosphere of the time. Visitors will be able to imagine that they are standing on the Strand watching events unfold before their eyes.

The Museum of London is location at 150 London Wall between Barbican and St Paul’s tube stations. The museum itself is free to enter though the Sherlock Holmes exhibition cost £12 for adults, £10 for children but prices include a voluntary donation. There are also family tickets available.
