Event News

The Kickstarter campaign for the True Believers Comic Festival has launched to a strong start, raising over 10% of their goal in the first 24 hours.

The campaign is looking to raise £5,500 by 5th March 2014 to help it pay for the costs of the venue and other expenses. The organisers are using the Kickstarter as a platform to pre-sell tickets to the events, offering an exclusive True Believers ticket, which grants its holders special extras at the festival itself.

They are also offering tables to vendors and exhibitors at an exclusive price and advertising opportunities for companies and individuals wishing to support the event.

“We’re a new event and that comes with certain challenges with regard to getting funding” says Jo Hartley, who is one of the co-founders of the event, “but we are an event for the fans, by the fans and this is a great way of funding the event and getting the fans involved.”

The True Believers Comic Festival will hold its first event at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire on Saturday 21st March 2015 and are looking to bring people a great mix of vendors, exhibitors, artists, cosplayers, special guests and live events, including live Q&A panels and cosplay shows.

Although the event is over a year away, their guest list already includes Dylan Teague, Lee Townsend, Lee Sullivan, Mike Collins, Lee Garbett, Kate Brown, Emma Vieceli, Nich Angell and Jon Lock.

“We’re thrilled by all of the support we have gotten this early on and really hope to build on this as people discover us and what we’re trying to do” Hartley continues “This event is something that we have dreamed about doing for a long time and are finally ready to put it out there and make it happen!”
