Event News

If you should be heading to the Doctor Who 50th Celebration Event at London’s ExCel this weekend be sure to seek out the good folk of Big Chief Studios.

Not only do they have a stunning collection of art prints available for the first time (the War Doctor print is astonishingly good), but they have an extremely limited Celebration Event edition of the sold-out 10th Doctor 1:6 Scale Collector Figure. So if you wanted one but missed out the first time, well now’s your chance to get a hold of one.

They’ll also have a limited supply of the just released 4th Doctor Limited Edition 1:6 Scale Collector Figure. Now that’s something I wish I could have had as a child growing up in the ’70s, that and the Star Trek 1:6 Scale Collector Figures.

So why not treat yourself to an early Christmas present (you really do deserve it you know), or why not get that special Whovian in your life a unique Christmas gift (they really do deserve it you know).

(Oh, and if you tell the Big Chief guys that you're a Starburst reader, you'll get 5% off the price of the Art Prints!)

Here's a preview of what will be on offer...

Press Release:

Big Chief Studios Ltd. are proud to announce all new officially licensed collectable products debuting at the upcoming Doctor Who 50th Celebration Event at the ExCel exhibition and convention centre, London.

These include an exclusive version of the sold out 10th Doctor figure. Limited to only 100 pieces the figures come with the regular accessories and display base that ships with the Signature Edition and Limited Edition figures and sports the darker blue shirt and floral patterned tie that David Tennant wears in "The Day of the Doctor" anniversary special. Of course his trademark trench coat is included and the figures come complete with a special hand-numbered, laser-engraved plaque. We are making 25 pieces available each day, with the final 25 being made available after the show via our official website.

We will have a small supply of the 4th Doctor Limited Edition 1:6 Scale Collector Figure. This is the most accurate representation of the popular Doctor that has been made available to date and includes everything that the Time Lord requires in his travels. From his bag of jelly baby sweets and yo-yo, to his well-worn fedora hat and of course the infamous scarf, this is a must have collectable for fans of Doctor Who.

We also have an exclusive version of the 10th Doctor Dynamix Ultra-stylised Vinyl Figurine. This version has the Doctor in his brown pin-striped suit and cream trainers, plus there is an alternate interchangeable head wearing 3D specs. We are also giving away 2 x FREE mini art prints with the purchase of the figurine whilst stocks last.

There is an array of art prints that we are showcasing for the first time including all new art by the renowned artist Alice X. Zhang, continuing the series that began with "The Roar of Our Stars". New pieces include "The Lonely God", featuring the War Doctor as portrayed by esteemed actor John Hurt, "The Parting of the Ways", featuring the 9th Doctor as portrayed by Christopher Eccleston and "The Turn of the Universe", featuring the fan-favourite 10th Doctor as portrayed by David Tennant.

In addition to these beautiful pieces we also have newly commissioned art by Peter Wallbank in celebration of the 11th Doctor in a piece simply entitled "TIME". The female companions of the various Doctors feature in "The Women of Who Collection Series 1" and include fan-favourites Rose Tyler, Clara Oswald, Amy Pond and Sarah Jane Smith.

Finally for younger fans and comic book enthusiasts we have 2 stunning pieces by artist Adam Law. "The Adventures of the 10th Doctor" features the Doctor, Rose and the TARDIS at the centre of the action, surrounded by familiar foes and "The Adventures of the 11th Doctor" similarly sees the Doctor and Amy with some of the most popular monsters from the series.

The art prints are available in both Gift Edition and Limited Edition formats. The entry level gift edition prints make ideal presents for the holiday season and the Limited Edition prints are beautifully reproduced using archival inks on museum quality matte paper. Both are ready for framing and make ideal gifts.

BIG Chief director Mark Andrews said, “We are thrilled to be a part of the Celebration event and look forward to meeting so many of our customers at the show.” Co-director Tony Leetham added, “We are very excited to be able to offer fans exclusive collectables at the event, which promises to be a memorable time for Whovians.”
