Event News

Hull Independent Cinema presents a series of Cult Cinema Sundays through April – June, kicking off with a screening of Argento’s masterpiece Suspiria on April 17th; also lined up are John Waters’ Depp-defying Cry-Baby (May 15th), Adam Green’s bizarre shot-on-cardboard sets Aladdin (May 30th), a double bill of Tommy Wiseau’s so-bad-it’s-hilarious The Room and Room Full of Spoons - which tells the story behind its making (June 5th) – and, on June 19th, there’s a showing of De Palma’s seminal Carrie.

Cult Cinema Sundays is the brainchild of Damien Greco, who started the cult screenings back in 2011. In 2013 Greco joined together with WeWatchFilms and Friends of Hull Screen to form Hull Independent Cinema, a charity organization whose aim is to make the City of Hull a venue for independent, world and art cinema. With a Hull Film Festival and 2017 City of Culture coming up, HIC is all set to do just that.

Cult Cinema Sunday takes place every third Sunday of the month at Fruit, 62-63 Humber Street, Hull. There’s a film quiz, raffle and art prints, with Thieving Harry’s Cafe on hand to serve up tasty sweet and savoury food treats. Buy your ticket in advance - you save yourself a quid AND get free film snacks!
