Event News

Returning to Nottingham’s Broadway on October 15th – 18th, this year’s Mayhem Film Festival has revealed its full programme with preview screenings, exclusive events and special guests galore.

Joining Steve Oram and his film Aaaaaaaah!, Karyn Kusama’s The Invitation, and the exclusive live stage reading of unmade Hammer script The Unquenchable Thirst of Dracula with Jonathan Rigby, Mayhem also welcomes director Paul Goodwin, producer Sean Hogan and artists and writers D’Israeli and Ian Culbard for a screening of documentary Future Shock! The Story of 2000AD about the origins and history of the radical British comic that gave us Judge Dredd and launched the careers of a host of British comic superstars.

Also appearing this year are director Paul Hyett (who will present his new werewolf spectacular Howl and a post-screening masterclass in making monsters), producer Cassandra Sigsgaard and directors Chris and Ben Blaine with the haunting Nina Forever, and producer and director Michal Kosakowski with provocative and fascinating feature German Angst.

With a total of 17 screenings and events, the programme also includes the Spanish-Ethiopian post-apocalyptic science-fiction film, Crumbs; a 35mm screening of Brian Yuzna’s 1989 cult classic Society; Robert Eggers’ terrifying debut, The Witch; punk singer Henry Rollins as an immortal cannibal in He Never Died; the return of the Scary Shorts and the fiendish Mayhem quiz, The Flinterrogation, hosted by author of the excellent Sheer Filth, David Flint.
