After 25 years since the first issue, and 10 years since the series ended, Neil Gaiman is returning to his canonical huge series SANDMAN!

The new series will begin October 30th and will be bi-monthly issues with art from legendary Dave McKean and will be called SANDMAN: OVERTURE! We will be returning to our old friend Morpheus, The Lord of Dreams in a six issue prequel.

Of course this is more than possible as THE SANDMAN series is so huge and Morpheus has been around since the dawn of time, it is easy for Gaiman to come back and expand the character.

With someone like Gaiman, who has proved his genius over and over again, we can be sure that this is not just for money and he’s no doubt probably had the story all along, considering Morpheus is such an iconic character.

However Gaiman will be wielding his weapon of imagination and pen to tell the story of what happening to Dream before he was locked away in SANDMAN VOLUME 1.

Gaiman said: "This is the one story that we never got to tell. In Sandman #1 Morpheus is captured somehow. Later on in the series, you learn he was returning from somewhere far, far away – but we never got to the story of what he was doing and what had happened. This is our chance to tell that story, and JH Williams III is drawing it. It's the most beautiful thing in the world."

Gaiman really has his work cut out for him as 1 issue will be released bi-monthly, making the comic last a whole year! But for eager fans of Sandman, save your pennies, as DC are also publishing SANDMAN: OVERTURE SPECIAL EDITIONS. These include original script work and concept art, so you can be totally clued in.

As this story is going to last a year, we can assume it’ll be rich with story and art, filling us up once more, as this is the most revered adult comic ever. Our faith is with Gaiman and our dreams with Morpheus
