Comic News: Marvel Teaming Up With George Romero On New Zombie Title…

Written by Kris Heys Tuesday, 16 October 2012

Comic News

I’ll hold my hands up, I couldn’t bring myself to watch SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD. It sits there, on the shelf, still in its shrink-wrap. DIARY OF THE DEAD was just so heartbreakingly bad. And this is coming from somebody who has a lot of time for the oft-derided LAND OF THE DEAD. What had happened to the granddaddy of the undead? Well, nobody would bankroll his projects, so he was forced to rethink each post-LAND script to cater for budgets that were a slap in face to the legendary filmmaker. Hell, even Ed Wood would've turned his nose up.

Well, Romero’s latest gig will allow him to put aside any budgetary concerns, as he’ll be bringing his love of zombies to the world of comic books in a new ongoing from Marvel Comics.

Sadly, no further details are available at this point; “Well I can tell you it won’t involve any of their on-going characters, there will be no superheroes. But it will involve zombies!” was all Romero would offer when quizzed by Twitchfilm recently. Cheers George!

Looks like Image Comics’ THE WALKING DEAD has got some serious competition heading its way.

We’ll have more information as we get it…

Yeah, Survival of the Dead is pretty bad....although I seem to recall that the isolated farmyard setting isn't that far removed from Walking Dead season two. Diary was dreadful though.
