This October, legendary comic book artist Joe Kubert (most recently of Before Watchmen: Nite Owl) will headline his own six-issue anthology series from DC Comics entitled Joe Kubert Presents. Kubert, whose professional relationship with DC began in 1943, is best known for his long-time connection with the character of Hawkman and the first issue of the mini-series will feature a story with the aforementioned hero at its center written and drawn by Kubert himself.
Kubert told DC: “I've been given the privilege to design the kind of comic book that I would enjoy reading and one in which I'd like to participate. This is it. I'll be doing Hawkman, Spit, The Redeemer, Sgt. Rock and The Biker in this 6-issue anthology. In addition, the book features the wonderful talents of Sam Glanzman and Brian Buniak. I had a blast doing it. I hope it blows you away.”
Buniak will write and draw an Angel and the Ape tale while Glanzman is set to contribute a new U.S.S. Stevens story.
The first issue of Joe Kubert Presents hits newsstands October 31st.
