Book News: BLAKE'S 7 at Starburst

Book News

The four series of Blake's 7 that were broadcast by the BBC between 1978 and 1981 quickly achieved cult status, thanks in no small part to the rather imaginative performances of Paul Darrow as Avon & Jacqueline Pearce as Servalan, and although there have been a number of attempts to revive the series since its demise, none have yet made it to the screen.

There have, however, been a couple of radio series, in 1998 and 2006, and in 1984 and 1989 new fiction appeared in the form of one-off novels (the first by Trevor Hoyle, who had already adapted the series 1 into prose, the latter by Paul Darrow himself).

But interest in Terry Nation’s creation has never waned, and now Big Finish are bringing Blake's 7 back with a bang.

As well as a brand new series of audio adventures, which the company promise will recreate “the wonder of 1978 all over again!”, Blake's 7 will make a welcome return to prose fiction, with the first two novels, The Forgotten and Archangel, due for release later this year (May and November respectively).

Here at Starburst, we know how painful it can be waiting for these things (and it’s been a long wait!), so we’ve arranged an exclusive preview of the first three chapters of The Forgotten, which you can read by going HERE.
