Book News: A GAME OF THRONES - ENHANCED EDITION Released

Written by Chris Prince Monday, 30 January 2012

Book News

For all those Game of Thrones fans experiencing a pre-season 2 slump, there's great news today as the first novel in the A Song of Ice And Fire series is released as an enhanced ebook. Available through the Apple iBookstore, A Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition has several nifty features that make traversing George RR Martin's labyrinthine world even more compelling.

First off, the book comes with a highly-detailed and slickly navigable map of Westeros that pinpoints each of the POV characters' locations and updates their movements as you progress through the story. There's also additional maps of King's Landing and The Wall, giving you a much more detailed look at two key locations from GRRM's ever-expanding world.

Best of all, for those of us who can't remember our Tristifer Botleys from our Loras Tyrells, each character's name is hyperlinked, taking the reader straight to a character description and doing away with the inevitable thumb strain that comes from constantly leafing through the appendices for info.

GRRM's expansive, detailed-orientated work really does lend itself to this format and newcomers in particular will find it easier to get to grips with the manifold locations, characters and sigils. There's also 13 extracts from the A Game of Thrones audiobook, read by Roy Dotrice, scattered throughout the ebook, helping to make this a truly novel way of experiencing a fantasy classic.

Check it out at the Apple Newstand from today.
