Dave Hutchinson, author of the critically acclaimed Fractured Europe Sequence, has won a British Science Fiction Award for his novel, Europe in Winter. (Published by Rebellion Publishing imprint, Solaris).

The dystopian sci-fi espionage thrillers have been regular nominees in various sci-fi awards, and this prize is a long time coming and well deserved.

The prize for Best Shorter Fiction went to Jaine Fenn for Liberty Bird (Now We Are Ten, NewCon Press). Geoff Ryman won the Best Non-Fiction prize with 100 African Writers of SFF (Tor.com) and Sarah Anne Langton won the award for Best Artwork thanks to her cover for Central Station by Lavie Tidhar (Tachyon Publications).

The BSFA Awards are presented annually at British sci-fi event Eastercon. They are voted for by BSFA members and those attending the British literary science fiction event, Eastercon. This year’s awards were announced at Eastercon 2017, aka Innominate, which was held in Birmingham.

Tickets for next year’s Eastercon, called Follycon, can be obtained from here.
